The gallery of the Red Sensation Formation Display Team is ready for watching, including an article about the team.
June 12th I attended the training held by Red Sensation, a formation and aerobatics display team based in Teuge, The Netherlands. The team consists of 2 planes and 3 members.
The planes used are the General Avia F22C and designed by aviation legend Stellio Frati.
The Team Members are: Coach:Martin Schoonderbeek, Red 1:Rob Grotendorst, Red 2:Martin Blokland. The show they fly consists of close formation flying aerobatics and shows all forms of formation flying. The mission of the team is to show what can be done with the right planes and the right people.
Now a little about the team itself, Red 1, Rob Grotendorst, works as co-pilot on the Airbus A330 and has been a Royal Netherlands Airforce instructor on the Pilatus PC-7. Rob does need his vitamin G as he calls it, or else he gets cranky.
Red 2, Martin Blokland, flies the Boeing 777 and has been a pilot on the F-16 with the Royal Netherlands Airforce. He is owner of the flightschool ACVT based in Teuge, The Netherlands.
The Coach, Martin Schoonderbeek is coach and manager of the team, he owns an ICT company and is a real people manager. Martin is Major (R) with the Royal Netherlands Airforce he directs the whole multimedia team, does directing and live streaming. He is doing this for 9 years now and loves it.
Red Sensation once started under the name Blue Formation back in 1997, it involved flying with the Piper Archer in formation. In 2004 the first demo was flown with the General Avia F22C at the Open Days of the Royal Netherlands Airforce.
Now what makes this demoteam so unique, well first there aren't that many formation display teams in the Netherlands and seeing a new one added is always a good thing. The second is that you can fly with the team, in formation and ofcourse with aerobatics.
If you want to have that special experience, go to their site and find out more about this unique experience, which makes you feel you're part of an airshow.
First chance you have of seeing the team in action is at the Open Days of the Royal Netherlands Airforce held june 20 and 21st 2008.

A special thanks to the team for inviting me to their training.
