Sanicole 2009 Report

This review will be a bit different, far less talk about participants, more talk about the airshow, the atmosphere, facilities, etc.

I decided to go early this year as the participants list this year was huge, I arrived at 8 am and already it was very very busy, which was to be expected. The program of the 33rd edition of the Sanicole airshow was spectacular to say the least. This year was the Tiger edition. Among the highlights were Melissa Pemberton, the Red Bull planes and ofcourse the mighty Vulcan.

Melissa Commentary was top notch once again, with a Flemish and English speaking commentator. Very nice job by the organisers. One thing that was really bad was the weather. Fog clouded up the display terrain and participants had about 2 km of visibility. Alot of displays were cancelled and alot were cut either short or were low shows. A shame, but there's nothing you can do about the weather.

Commentary So the weather was bad, did that down the spirits of the 35,000 people that attended? No, everyone was in a cheery mood, despite some AAAW, by the crowd when a display was cancelled. Some participants do have to get a special mention. The weather was bad, but the Vulcan team, Melissa Pemberton, the RNLAF F16 Demoteam and the Blades gave a great show, despite the visibility.

Thanks Sanicole organisers and volunteers for still trying to bring us a fantastic show. Hope to see you next year.
